okies so i was talkin roobish when i said a few mins lol

no log.... just the story so far.....

i followed your instructions to the letter several times both in normal and safe mode.... but of course it's still there.
I hate the damn thing..... so i went one further and fixed the win.ini and overwrote it.... but im at the point where it seems to have gone BUT i am getting 2 boxes on reboot.... saying services.exe cant be found.
So something else is in there trying to run it.... I just need to know what.

Any ideas ?? :P

Well this entry sure looks suspicous:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MP3download] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSA64CHK.DLL,DllMostrar Matrix_HTML:MP3download:t

This is what SysInfo has to say about it...
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php? ... unt=&type=

Now that you've Over-written the win.ini file,re-run HJT and post a fresh logfile and we'll get rid of it.

Hi Lilpink...still at it eh??
Ok try this....

Navigate to the files and find info on them
Right click on them----left click properties---version
What are they related too?
Please submit them to Kapersky for a free virus scan
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
Simply navigate to them by clicking the "browse" button
Right click---select--- then "Submit"

Let us know...

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

services.exe
MPREXE.EXE

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5321E378-FFAD-4999-8C62-03CA8155F0B3} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [xp_system] C:\WINDOWS\INETM\SERVICES.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [xp_system] C:\WINDOWS\INETM\SERVICES.EXE

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the following if they are there:

SERVICES
INETM

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\INETM\SERVICES.EXE

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin"

GOTO START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>INTERNET OPTIONS
Put a tick in OFFLINE FILES>DELETE TEMP FILES

GOTO START>RUN
Type: %temp% ----click EDIT>SELECT ALL
Click DELETE

DON'T REBOOT.

Instead...

NOTE:ALWAYS back up the registry before making any changes to it

Click Start > Run.
Type regedit, and then click OK.
Navigate to each of the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
RunServices

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

In the right pane, delete the following value if you find it, or any value that refers to the file, which is detected as the Trojan:being SERVICES.EXE or a variable e.g.--small letters

"Windows Services"="service.exe"---this is what were looking for---

Exit the Registry Editor.

REBOOT

Mrs. PC....

In the registry, search for and delete all references to XTCUpdate.

Backup Registry first.

Reboot.

Make sure C:\WINDOWS\INETM is gone.

Reboot.
