First post on new forum - WOOT ME!

I keep getting two advertising sites added to my favourites and desktop icons everytime I boot up. I delete them from both and when I next reboot they are there again. Anyone know where this crapola is coming from? I've searched various areas of windows but can't find anything related. Minor pain in the ass but pain in the ass none-the-less.

Without knowing the specific sites you are talking about I can't give you an exact answer, but I can point you to two places that will probably help you.

first one (below) tells you what all of the programs that are starting at bootup do. There are instructions on where to look for them if you follow the links at the top

You should also run a spyware killing program like Spybot - Search & Destroy. Download that from http://security.kolla.de/

oh.. and if you have the problem where the links folder keeps coming back for you, you can right click it, select properties, and make it hidden. It will then never again show up.

There is also a good program called Adware. It fixes spyware on you as well.

Still getting it and I'm using adsgone which seems to go ok for everything else.

See that little "Get rid of spyware" icon in the bottom left? Little bastard it is. I had to disable adsgone to get the properties to show too. How could it be getting put on my desktop everytime I boot up? I checked all my startup proggies, disbaled some, but everything else should not be related to this. *shrug*

try to un-install this adsgone, and see if the icon goes away. If it does, to with adaware or spybot. They are both great programs, though i like spybot better
