The error report is listed as follows...
AppName: cohupdater.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0
ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1106 Offset: 00016b97

Please download and run the following programs.

AD-AWARE

Go to www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and download Ad-Aware 6 Build 181.
Install and launch program. Click in “ Check for updates “ and download latest reference files.

Make sure the following settings are made and on ---ON means GREEN.

Click Start then Activate in-depth scan. ( recommended )

Click to use custom scanning options then click Customize and select these options:
Under Drives and Folders check “ Scan within Archives “. Below under Memory and Registry check ALL options.

Click on the Tweak button. Under Scanning Engine check Unload recognized processes during scanning. Under Cleaning Engine check Let windows remove files in use at next reboot. Click on Proceed to save settings.

Click Next to start scan.
After scan mark everything for removal. ( Right click and Select All )
Restart computer.

SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY

Go to http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang ... e=download

While online open program and click on Search for Updates. Download all updates.
Close all browser windows and click on “ Check for Problems “. Put a check in all entries it finds with a RED exclamation mark then click on Fix Selected Problems.

Restart your computer.

Can you please run an online virus scan at Housecall's--- http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Set to Autoclean and delete what it can't fix if you can,
thanks.

Do as Geekgirl suggested and update your version of HJT then
Post another HJT log back here for review.

NOTE:
Please make a folder for hijackthis, It's not adviseable to leave it on your desktop, backups will be spread all over your screen :)
Right click an empty spot on the desktop----left click NEW---Folder
Name it HJT---copy and paste hijackthis to that new folder and delete the
one on the desktop originally downloaded
Don't delete backups until everything is running ok...

Hey Lunchmeat,

here's more HJT instructions for you

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

addqi.exe
odjiwjf.exe
ipbk32.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\syrnr.dll/sp.html#28129
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://syrnr.dll/index.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = res://syrnr.dll/index.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\syrnr.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\syrnr.dll/sp.html#28129
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://syrnr.dll/index.html#28129
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8B131CA1-3EA3-D757-266F-0875B9EFBB12} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\addub.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ipbk32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ipbk32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Sinsup] odjiwjf.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [addqi.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\addqi.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Sinsup] odjiwjf.exe

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\addqi.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\odjiwjf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ipbk32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\addub.dll

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.

After you do what suggests:

Please download: .
Unzip it to your desktop but don't run it yet.

Do not open internet explorer to come back here until after running the tool.

Double click Aboutbuster.exe, click OK, click Start, then click OK. This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them.

Once the tool is done scanning, copy the log and paste it into your thread.
with a new Hijack this log.

i was checking on the city of heroes website and found a column about my problem. They said it had something to do with "third party refresh rate modification software", and i have noticed that whenever i try to run it the color on the monitor goes weird looking a glitchy, the error message pops up, and then the color goes back to normal. if anyone has any idea what this could mean.. please let me know. as always, thanks for ideas.
