Postby Jocobo » Wed Jul 07, 2004 4:50 pm

When i right click start and click open, i get to the strt menu folder. It gives you options on the side to go to folders like this. when i click any of the links they dont do anything, just gray out like ive gone to the links, when i havent. and then when i walk through to the my documents folder all the icons are out or order and all over the place? any ideas? Thanks!

When you click Start, is your My Documents folder shown there like above Programs?

Have you tried to create a new link to see if that might work?

To display My Documents on the Start menu, follow these steps:

Right-click Start , and then click Properties . Or, if the Start menu is already displayed, right-click an empty area of the Start menu, and then click Properties. Click Customize. Click the Advanced tab. In the Start menu items list, under My Documents , click Display as a link or Display as a menu , and then click OK twice. The next time you click Start , the My Documents folder is displayed on the Start menu.

See if this fixes the problem.

I was thinking on the line of the path wasnt set right and if you would set it up again if it would fix the problem but it seems you cant access anything in the other places area.
If you know the exact day where it quit working you could always try Last good configuration. Mayb someone else will stumble across this and have an input, in the meantime I will continue trying to solve your problem, its probalbly something simple that Ive overlooked :|

Yeah, i would try to recreat the shortcut, but i cant even right click them. On my own pc i can right click the other places links like My Documents and get the shortcut path and everything, so its really tough to replicate this issue. I was hoping someone had gone through this pain and knows what the deal is. Thanks a ton for your help, from the looks of it, youve become a answer machine in this forum, what with some 400 posts in a few months. Carry on the wonderful work!

I havent forgotten about you, lemme give you this to try.

Right click Start>Properties>Start Menu tab.
Now you may have the settings set to Clasic Start Menu, if it is click on the one above it, Start menu. To the right click Advanced button. A box will open, at top click the Advanced tab. Under Start menu items is a window, scroll through there and you will see things checked that are to be included in the way you scroll to if it is shown as link or menu. Take a look at it and see if there is something in there that looks like it may need changed. Make sure if your playing aorund you rememeber what you changed or you will be back here asking more questions.

Heres a link to some info on the Start Menu also
