Following the directions for ftp behind linksys router, I cant get my friend to connect. He logs on but i keep getting this error. 425 Cannot open data connection (10061).....He is on passive mode. No firewall or router. Access should be ok. What is it??? Please help. Thanks

Have you setup an account on your FTP server like the one pictured on
Also has he tried to connect with passive mode off?

Let’s see if we can narrow it down some.
Can you connect to your FTP server from your system?

Have him turn off passive mode and attempt reconnection.

If that doesnt work...

When he connects, after receiving the error - have him send a raw command to your server - the command to run is 'ls' without the ''. That should provide us with more information.

If you need assistance with how to send a raw command, let us know. Also, jot down the FTP client he is using.

I seem to be able to connect from machines on my LAN. He is using Core FTP. And youre right....I do need help on the raw command.

Would posting a test login here for you guys to try be helpful....or does that lead to security issues with everyone seeing it.

With Core - have him Right Click in the remote server window (Where the files should apprear) and have him choose 'Custom Commands' > QUOTE > and type 'ls' without the ''. I take it turning off passive didnt work?
