Cd burner sucks

Postby venney » Sat Dec 04, 2004 9:23 pm

How lame is this, basically i can only burn 1 cd each time the pc is on! I have to like restart the pc before i can burn another. Even if i do a simulate before the burn the burn wont work. It doesnt matter what program i use and i think it does it with any users so i think its some setting on my burner.

Any ideas?

Hi venney,

What error do you get when try to burn a second CD?

If you have too many burning programs loading it could be causing a conflict.

If your hard drive is full and you don't have about 1.2 gig of free space to use as a scratch pad for your image, that might explain why it works on reboot.

I dont get any error at all.

I dont remeber wat it says when its burning like audio files but when im burning a disk image it just stays on loading disk image for ages. I can cancel it and when i restart the oc the disk hasnt been written to at all. I will try clearing some space of the hard drvie it is quiet full.
Il let you know if it makes any differnce.

Thank you

After reading my own answer, I think it's probably a little vague. what I meant to say is that Windows XP needs about 1 gig of hard drive space for maintence operation. (This is a guess on my part)--you'll get an error when your trying to install SP2 or Office 2003 with less than 1 gig of space.

A lot of cd burner programs load their image to the hard drive first and then burn away, this is the safest way to burn an image without errors.

So if your drive hasn't been defragged and you've loaded 700 meg image to the hard drive--it might just choke on any "next" operation.
