Hi clennonuk,

Could you please give us a little more information like:

Operating System (window xp home, windows 98, windows me)
What kind of shortcuts are you referring to (My Computer, Notepad, Nero...)?
Are these shortcuts ones that you deleted and come back after a reboot?

Do you mean you want to stop those things loading on boot up ? rather than just get rid of messy desktop icons... ?

Do you mean the icons on the bottom right of the taskbar? Next to the clock?

I think he is on about his taskbar next to the clock. Normally if you right click what ever is down there there will be a "Run on startup" button ticked, untick it if you dont wish it to run on start up, on other programs if you right click it there may be a button that says options or settings, check in there for the same sort of thing and untick it. Hope thats what you wanted.
