 okayyyy, I'll try and explain, first of all, I have a bad habit of not being able to leave things alone (files an stuff) I hate not knowing what stuff is. Is there anyway to check FOR FREE to see if I may have deleted stuff that might have been needed? My browser is running really slow, I just got broadband about a month ago, but it was goin grand, everythin was really fast, but about a week ago it just started taking ages for pages to load. I done a pc doctor thingy scan, and it came up with 29 problems, (so many... Invalid ActiveX\Com Files, Invalid ActiveX\Com SubSection Files, Invalid Microsoft Shared Files, Invalid Windows Startup Files & Invalid Uninstall Information). Thing is I couldn't get it to fix the friggin things cos u have to pay for it. I'm also getting messages comin up 'runtime script error...' I'd be really really grateful if anyone could tell me what i can do to get my pc back in shape, see & fix any errors etc. Thanx :)

Try Windows XP Last Know Good Configuration

Start the computer and then press the F8 key when Windows begins to start. The Windows Advanced Options menu appears.

Use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.

If a boot menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER. Windows XP restores the computer to the most recent restore point.

is that just the same as system restore? It's pd me off so much I'd do a recovery, only for some reason I can't anymore, it says I need the disc (which I don't have) but before it used to let me do it by hitting the f10 key on reboot. What's more annoying is I don't even know what's wrong with the pc, I just know there's something. :(

O.S? (really thick & haven't a clue what that is)
I have spybot search & destroy, but when I run it, although it always comes up with spyware, if I delete the stuff, (i think it might be stuff from marketstore research), well when it's deleted, it makes my msn messenger not work right (when I go to enter my message it freezes for about 15 secs), I don't know why but ive noticed this a few times after doing the scan and deleting, then I have to do a restore to get it back to before.

Ditto to what GeekGirl is telling you, really sounds to me like you need to run Hijack This and post your logfile in the HJT forum.

*Before you post a logfile, please visit and run their virus scan(its free).
