I've been talking about upgrading for quite some time and now the majority is done. I have to credit the upgrade to my employer however, this guy purchased the new parts for me as a Christmas bonus this year. I couldnt ask to work for a better man.

so with that said, heres the current specs

Gigabyte M57SLI-S4 motherboard
AMD X2 6000 3GHz 2mb L2
4 GB Mushkin DDR2 800Mhz 2-2GB sticks

Im using my existing 7950GT vid card and X-Fi sound. Only 1 card as of now, looking at series 8 cards to run in sli soon.

Tested on 32 bit XP, will be doing a 64 bit install over the weekend.

Heres the results

My previous system averaged 4200-4300 so this is quite a substantial gain considering im using the same vid card. Im looking forward to moving into SLI probably after the new year.

Well venney, theres the bar. its up to you to show me if Intel and ATI can raise it

Well, it looks like you beat me lol.... im gonna overclock the cpu soon, so i will do another one.

if i turn the resolution down, i can get the score up by a fair chunk, but still doesnt beat you. I guess my gpu is letting the system down, cos it looks like i got an alrite cpu score.

thats not a bad score at all and im quite surprised to see the cpu score that high. I think the difference there is the L2 cache, your running 4 meg and im running 2. My video card is the only thing beating you. Drop your res to 1024X768 and see what you get.

Quad Core!!! somehow i missed that before! I though you were on core 2 duo for some reason. Your CPU is screaming but the vid card is holding you back some. If you through another one in though, i couldnt touch you!

I envy both of you and your high scoring systems.

I ended up giving my oldest daughter my newest system.
She needed it for editing her video news reports for her TV journalist class.
Her old system would chock on just trying to load the video, let a lone edit it or add visual effects.
So far she has gotten all "A"s on her video reports and her teacher has submitted one of her reports for a state scholarship competition.
It will be worth giving up that system if she can win the scholarship competition, first place prize is a $10,000 scholarship for the collage of her choice.

I guess I'll have to start building a new system for me, again.

I envy you Gecko, your daughter has a shot at a $10,000 scholarship and you get to build a new machine. I hope she wins it.

Thank you both, I hope she wins it too.
I am quite proud of her actually, not only is she competing for this scholarship but we were told by a collage recruiter that if she keeps up with her marching band she can earn a full scholarship to USC.

As for a new system for me I know I'll get an Asus motherboard and an AMD processor but it will have to wait until next months disability check.
I went a little overboard on Christmas and then we took our little trip to DC.
We are trying not to touch our savings now that I'm on a fixed income.
