Hey all its me again, sorry to bother you, but seeing how I am in college and have alot of time on my hands and am interested in computers, I am just trying to learn and do as much as I can with computers. Anyway this brings me to my random qustion for the day.

As you know I have a second computer that I don't really use that much, I just created it because I had a bunch of spare parts. I was wondering if it was possible (now I don't know how this works so don't laugh if I am completly wrong) to use my second computer as a server and host a web page basically just to be viewed by friends and family.

Now if this is possible where the heck do I begin? I downloaded apache and the page that states "If you are viewing this page it is working properly" appears, but where fo I go from there? I have taken a class on html documenting in highschool and in college so I am pretty sound in using it with notepad since that is all I have.

My second computer has
Windows xp Pro (I believe)
intel 2.2ghz proccesor
381 mb RAM
30gig Hard drive

thanks and man...I seem to ask you guys alot of questions.. :whine:

If you already can view the If you are viewing this page it is working properly then you are almost there.
First create a folder called public_html in your root (C:\public_html)
Inside that folder is where you will put your index.html page and support files like images.

Next using notepad open C:\Apache2\conf\httpd.conf and search for DocumentRoot at about line 225.
Change it from DocumentRoot C:/Apache2 to the location where your html files and site are located: DocumentRoot C:/public_html.
