My pc has 1.1ghz athlon & 512mb and am going to add another 512.

I regularly scan and remove using Ad-Aware and occasionally Spybot. and degrag.

What other programs can i use to make sure my system is in order and as efficient&organised as possible

e.g any progs that will delete temporary and not needed files etc

Any advice?

P.S My startup utility has the least amount of things loading as I need

I installed and ran this trial
PC Doc Pro 3.5

It came up with loads of errors but only allows to fix 50 and I dont have the keys

And this program
FreeRegistry Fix - showed 603 errors

Whats the best program to correct these errors, should I really believe my pc has these errors?

I use CCleaner.

www.ccleaner.com

Works like a charm for me.

I tend to be real leery of automated Registry cleaners but that's just me.

If my system is running real nice and it says I have 200 + errors I have to question that.
Remember one missing critical registry key and you could be dead in the water.

I would however recommend
I like to use it to find registry keys linked to missing files, it does an excellent job of verifying missing links.

The only other thing I would suggest is before you use any registry cleaner,
Is that you backup your current registry first and don’t save it to “My Documents”
I always create a directory off the root to save my backups to, like this:
C:\regbak\filename.reg
It makes it so much easier if you have to restore that backup from a command prompt.

I use to use JV16 power tools when it was free, its an excellent tool. CCleaner is free and works real good now, a new version came out yesterday.

Another that I use is Norton System Works--don't install it, just run Win Doctor from the CD

The peculiar thing is this, no one program does it all, If you run all three, they will ALL find lots of items for repair.

Another thing to touch on, XP registry backups suck. They will back up what you are editing. But they will not back up the entire registry

They kind of do--- like two of the hives

Go to this site for a good program that will backup your entire registry
