Me better half and I have taken to buying a single song at a time. Usually from the Walmart website...
We do this because we feel that albums generally STINK execpt for one or two songs...
These baught songs end up being in the WMA (i think thats it) format.
Earlier today we tried to convert these to MP3. They appeared to convert OK, but when we tried to play the MP3 version, it came up that we didn't have the license to perform that operation....
We are not trying to do anything (shall we say...) Shady, but feel that since we paid for the song, we should be able to tinker with that song in way that we wish... Again nothing...... shady....
Do any of Ya'll know of some FREE software that'll do this, or a way around walmarts liscense/rights lock out? Or even another site to buy songs from??

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but the site in Russia--watch out.
Don't under any circumstances give them a credit card. International laws do not apply in that country. If they get your credit card and an authorization, they are not going to max it out, they will make a very small purchase and charge to your card every one or two months. Most people don't really look at their bill--so a 2 dollar charge--don't know, don't care, pay it, is where these people are at. If you have 2,000 credit card numbers, you milk them slow and they'll never know.
Technically, the RIAA would like to shut them down and they have failed so far. I'm not suggesting that the site mentioned does any of the above, you just might be safer using Limewire or Emule.

I gave them my credit card number a long while back and I haven't had any money taken. I consider the site to be very professionally run and I wouldn't have touched it otherwise.
I know there must be shonky Russian sites around.. but this isn't one of them

TEN CENTS A SONG should be a tip off that something isn't kosher. From there, you can use your own judgement

I love Limewire.. it can be very fast. I have eMule downloaded somewhere on my computer but I always use although I expect they are much of a muchness.
