DirectX 9.0 plz help

I just bought the sims2 and was all lookin forward to gettin home to play it, so ive just finished installin it but the bloody thing tells me i need DirectX 9.0, can someone help? how do i get this?

argggggghh
i went to there and installed it, went to load the game and got this message:
Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The system will now terminate.
What do I do now?

Try updating your Graphic card.

Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
Find your VideoGraphic card and write the Model #down on a pc of paper and post back here.
