if you use your computer to play back these DVD movies, do you get the same results?

The reason I ask is, many dvd players will technically play written dvd's but have trouble reading them well. I'd suspect what is burned on the DVD is fine, and that it'll play fine on your computer with DVD playback software.

if that's the case, you may need to get a different DVD player.

If it fails on your PC too, try writing at 1x, and see if that makes any difference.
