i use DVD Shrink 3 to rip and arrange by chapters. Then burn with Nero 6. Shrink is nice cuz it lets you compress to the capacity of your media, or split a DVD9 into two (2) x DVD4.5s. I prefer the later of the two choices, since quality is my #1 concern.
If you have any questions u can talk to me on AIM, same Username.

I use DVD Decrypter which is free, and easy to use. It supports copying the .ifo files too.
I then compress to the Xvid codec using AutoGK

DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD,now if the movie is under 4.7gb you can burn right to DVD with no compression(of course you need a DVD Writer).
If the movie is bigger than 4.7gb you would still rip it with DVD Decrypter but using FILE MODE.
Then you would compress the movie to fit on a 4.7gb DVD disc.
You then burn the movie with Nero 6.
Very good quality,both FREE apps.

I use.. and always have used.. Vobdec to rip the vobs.. windows explorer to rip the ifo..
and then flaskMPEG to compress the video (to whatever codec I choose), and then virtualdub to compress the audio..
Never ever had an issue with doing it this way.. and it allows so much freedom to manipulate the output video.. cropping to reduce bitrate drain.. and allowing me to decide how many discs I wish to put the resultant file on..
Vobdec by itself allows me to make a 1:1 backup of my films very easily.
