Updating Java problem

Hi there,

So it started when my Chrome kept telling me that "Java has been blocked because it's out of date" so I went to update it, following the instructions. I did that a couple times and each time I did it, that error message popped up again too. I checked on the website to see what version I had, and it was the latest one, 7u5, though it kept telling me to update.. I tried uninstalling it, with Revo uninstaller, since it didn't work with the normal uninstaller, and now I can't re-install, cause it says I still have another version installed.. Why is this, and how can I fix it?

Do you have any details of the OS? Also, does this also happen in IE?

My OS is Windows vista 64-bit, and in IE, when I encounter something that needs java, it just "Stops working". In Firefox, it's like Chrome, it keeps telling me to update.
