How can I get Z5 speakers to work in an integrated 7i HD sound system? I can view them showing playing levels, but can't get any audio.

Can you post a pic of the sound card inputs? The most likely reason is that you plugged into the wrong jack.

Z5 speakers have only a USB connection (no external power source). The mainboard is an msi X58A-GD45.
This is what the manual says about audio.Chip integrated by Realtek (True Blu-ray audio).Flexible 8-channel audio
with jack sensing.Compliant with Azalia 1.0 Spec.
Audio works fine with older speakers in correct jack. If I right click on Z5s in devices and printers I can see the fluctuations in levels with music playing, but I can't hear anything. They work fine on my old computer.

Im thinking these may have a built in controller? Ive owned one USB system that did. Perhaps go to your control panel, sound, manage audio devices and make sure the right hardware is selected for playback.
