DiskOK - Rogue Defrag Program
My wife's laptop (running Vista Home Basic edition) is displaying an error dialogue box advising all sorts of nasty messages. When the laptop boots it immediately opens this DiskOK wibdow and does an anlytic scan. The scan reports;
Boot sector of the hard drive is damaged - Critical Error - Limited Edition (Please buy a license)
Bad sectors on the hard drive or damaged file allocation table - Critical Error - Limited Edition (Please buy a license)
Read time of hard drive clusters less that 500ms - Critical Error - Limited Edition (Please buy a license)
Hard drive doesn't always respond to system commands - Critical Error - Limited Edition (Please buy a license)
etc etc etc - all scary stuff right?
However, this program is making the machine unusable - programs won't start, and running McAfee it will scan so far then we get a error box relating to missing or corrupt files and the system reboots.
Anyone seen this before and what advice can anyone offer?
Thanks in advance.
