Windows media player 9 problems!!!!

Postby bman » Thu Apr 08, 2004 5:34 am

When I upgraded to windows media player 9 it crashes when I click on a video file on the web (like streaming video or progressive download video) where it should normally connect then downloading then start to play like it did with wmp 8. But it just crashes during the connecting part and locks up and causes me to have to restart computer due to slowness of system it causes. Some files I believe open up in a new iexplorer when you click on it but now it just does nothing. I have reinstalled the player and even downloaded codecs but nothing works. I am using windows xp professional sp1 and have 2 computers connected via lan/router using cable internet. Now when I first installed xp and used wmp 8 it would work fine but not after upgrading to wmp 9. Please help.

A lot of folks, including myself, have problems with WMP9.
To restore Windows Media Player insert the the XP CD into the CD drive and type the following at the Command prompt:rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection InstallWMP7 132 c:\windows\inf\wmp.inf
