Video Editing Software

[laureng925]

Hi, this summer i plan on assembeling/editing a bunch of home movies from my digital video camera. i have all the equipment on my hard drive necessary, but i am looking for a simple, but really effective software program that will allow me to add some effects, etc... but nothing too fancy. so the point of all of this is for me to ask if anyone has any names of programs i should look into and how much something like that might cost. what do you all know about this? thanks a lot!

What operating system are you running? If it happens to be Windows XP,windows movie maker may be sufficent enough for what your wanting to do.Microsoft also has an update avaliable that upgrades to movie maker 2.Its actually quite handy for a free editor.
