friends error

wen ever i play half life, or at least sometimes, when I try to shut down the pc I get one of those blue error screens come up and when it does I cant do anything.
the error code it has is:

OD: FFFF : OOOO FFFF
now these cud be Os or 0s but i cant remember

Does your friend get these blue screens any other time or just playing Half Life ?
Try to get the exact error message if possible it will help us greatly in helping your friend with his pc problem

this is some thing else has has just said after i posted that lol

this is what he does

1.Start up pc
2. play half life or any mods the are like half life
eg.blue shift, Counter strike 1.5, opposing force (steam programs do not cause this error)
3.I close the game
4.I click shut down, then ok
5.It leaves the desktop and this error comes up and the only way i can get rid of it is to manaully turn off my pc

Have him check to see that his video drivers are up to date.
