give seagates a try.Download the "DiscWizard Starter
Edition" then run the program to create a bootable floppy. From there you will be able to "low level format" which means writing zero's to the drive. This software should also let you create and format a ntfs or a fat32 partition.Do this then try your instalation and let us know how it goes.

Postby antikz » Mon Feb 02, 2004 1:19 am

i think its safe 2 say that its well and truly knackered.
downloaded and created boot disks for disc wizard which started fine if not a bit slow then got a message saying setting dynamic mode*failed*? :?: then it scrolled too fast and said thankyou for using discwizard press cntrl alt delete to restart which i did and the drive just makes weird clicking noises :( :( fortunately its not mine although unfortunate for my friend who looks like will have to buy a new drive. thanks for the help

I think you've pretty much got to the point where you can say it's dead :( Once a hard disk goes there's not really anything you can do about it :(
