Mobo or Processor problems

Postby Silent_Gunner » Sun Feb 01, 2004 4:16 am

I have a little bit of a problem here, and it has got me stumped (I have my A+ Cert.)

Right now I have a A7V8X-X motherboard from ASUS with an AMD XP 2100+, well it should be running at 1.73 GHZ right? Well right now it is underclocked to about 1.3 GHZ and everytime I try to change it to 1.7 it locks up. I have reinstalled windows, and it gives me the Blue Screen o' Death saying that my system has halted so I wont damage anything. Any ideas on this would be most helpful

I just got through fighting the same battle,a bios flash fixed mine although that might not be the case for you(different mobo). There are several causes, most common are weak power supply and cheap or bad ram.You should be running 350 watts at the LEAST. 400 and up would be alot better.High quality ram and good cooling helps tremendously.Post the rest of your specs, vid card, drives, psu ect...
