SATA Mode Setting in BIOS

I wish to know if it is possible to setup SATA HDD and also PATA HDD on the motherboard. I do not want it in RAID. I.e. Main SATA HDD with XP loaded on it and additional existing PATA HDD as one more drive.
I have MSI K8MM3-V Mobo and the BIOS setting SATA Mode has just two options RAID & IDE. I am not sure how this operates.
Thanks,

Hi Patkim

Yes it will work fine. Set the Sata to IDE mode and you should be good to go. If you are doing a new install to the SATA drive, don't hook up the PATA drive until after the install. You'll notice a that the SATA drive with XP will boot in half the time of the old PATA drive.

Good luck
