Geforce 7600 GS.. vid card Problem

Postby Vend3tt4 » Tue Nov 20, 2007 12:28 am

System Specs:
PC Brand: Custom Built
Graphics Card: Geforce 7600 GS OC x8 AGP 512 MB
Motherboard Brand: MSI
Motherboard Chipset: MSI 648 Max (533 MHz) - SiS 648 Chipset Based
Processor Type: Intel Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz
System Memory: 1 Gb
Nvidia Driver: 163.75 Forceware
Operating System: Windows XP Home

So i recently upgraded to this card from a Geforce 4 ti 4400 and i could play games like teamfortress 2 and warrock etc fine with this video card. But with my new card my computer slowed down significantly and those games i mentioned just to name a few i cant run of the same settings as the 4400 without even crashing (i see graphic tearing as well.) I was told to purchase a new power supply i went from a 300W to a 500W. Well that didnt seem to improve it very much. Any help would be appreciated greatly thanks.

thats interesting, almost sounds like a bad card. It should certainly out perform the ti4400 by a landslide. My advise would be to uninstall the drivers and reboot. Allow windows to find the card and install generic drivers. Once thats done you can install the proper nvidia drivers and test it out again.

Hi Vend3tt4

Adding to Liljim go to and download their drivers for your card.

I've learned from experience, toss the CD that comes with the card and go on-line and get the latest.

Of course if you have Vista, the new driver won't work either.
