venney,

I found this site on a quick search: http://www.dansdata.com/coolers.htm
He shows a number of different types of cpu, heat sink, fan combinations and give some good advice.

It will all depend on the type of cpu and heat sink your system has.

Are you just replacing the fan or both the fan and heat sink?

Hi Venny

If it's one of the newer Intel's with 4 push points to install, its pretty easy to remove. Each push tab has a slot on it. Put a flathead screwdriver in the slot and Rotate it 90 degrees (I'm not sure which way) and it will release. Do it 4 times and you should be good to go.

Be real careful around the capacitor's that surround the CPU. It's real easy to mess one up.

Hope this helps

hello, i am really considering buying a new cpu fan, mine is just far 2 noisy. ive modified my case slightly and I have put 2 more fans in there, and removed some stupid funnel thing, and the cpu fan is still 2 noisy for my liking.
How do i know what type of cpu fan to look for?
i was reading the link you gave me, and it seems simple enough, i just dont know which type i should go for.
thanks
