Video Capture and editors??

Ok, so some time last year (X-mas) we received a Panasonic digital video camcorder PV-GS16. Now we are starting to get a fair amoung of video footage. My better half would like to start putting some of it on to the computer so she can play around with it.

So to do this I am assuming that I need to have a Video capture card, but I know absolutly nothing about this type of thing.

One other thing that I think I should tell ya is this: The only cable that came with the video camcorder was one that has a small headphone jack type thing (with four sections) on one end and three RCA type jacks on the other (a Red, a White, and a Yellow)

So what do you reccomend for a capture card.

Also, what do you use for video editing? I would prefer something that is more user friendly....

Thanks again and Good on ya

Junior

I use a ATI TV Wonder for video capture and normally use Vegas Video for editing but its not very user friendly nor is it cheap. You may be able to use for editing, its easier and its free.

My capture card is the only one i've ever used so i cant really tell you whats best, only that mine works good for me. I have Coaxial and composite (RCA) input.

Using RCA, you will plug the Yellow (video line) to the capture card. Red and White is Left and Right audio, you will need a to connect to your line in on your sound card.

Im sure there are better cards to choose from but im satisfied with the TV Wonder.
