NOT AGAIN!

All computer hardware support

NOT AGAIN!

Postby Un4g1v3n » Tue Nov 11, 2003 5:18 am

Alas, its that time of the month, when everything seems FUBAR (F***ed Up Beyond All Repair) with one of my comps. I was on my compaq, when it froze. Nothing outta the ordinary. So, i restarted my computer. But then, a SURFACE SCAN came up. It said (after taking an hour to go through what ever it was doing) that my harddrive and sustained some physical damage. It said it self repaired, but now when windows starts, a message comes up. it states: Explorer has caused an invalid page in the fault. Then i have the option to CLOSE or DETAILS. No matter what option i choose, the computer freezes. I can go into safemode, but not windows in normal srat-up. Whats wrong now?

More than likely this is a driver problem.
What are the details given when you click on the “Details button”?

Do u mean, DETAILS on the error messge i get on windows start-up? This is what the error looks like... In a rough sense.
-----------------------------------------------|
| EXPLORER X |
|--------------------------------------------- |
| (X) CLOSE |
| DETAILS |
| Explorer has caused an error |
| and will now be closed |
|-----------------------------------------------

LoL.... something along the lines of that. I beleive that when i click details, it says "Explorer has cause a fault in the page..." I believe thats what is says. I will check in a moment.

What operating system are you running? Have you tried running additional scandisk to see if all the problems have been corrected with the hard disk? If you are running Windows 98 have you tried restoring the registry to a point before this happened? If you are running Windows ME or XP have you tried a System Restore to a point before this happened?
