My first question is about the amd 64. When the amd 64 comes out, will the prices of the athlon xp and the pentium 4 go down? My second question concerns RAID. If i start with one hard drive, but later get another one, is it possible to take advantage of RAID?

I am thinking that unless you are willing to wait 2 years for an amd 64 you'll be price gauged horrifically. Those 2 years will also probably introduce MANY other things in the computer industry.

I just re-read your question... based on the production numbers I've seen demand for amd 64 processors will be much higher than they will be able supply... so it might bring down other cpu prices, but I wouldn't think much for at least 9 months after release (when they will be pumping out more 64bit units)

you'd have to wipe everything on your hard drive in order to incorpoate it into a RAID set unless you are doing mirroring (which is only really good for backup purposes)
