Connecting external Hard drives

I've just purchased a "USB 2.0 to IDE SATA 2.5 3.5 Hard external Drive Converter Adapter Cable" and wondered if the USB cable will supply sufficient power to the drive. Will I need to power it using a separate supply and transformer?

ColaBoy,

The ones I've seen at Office Depot come with an AC to IDE power converter, plus ATA and SATA power cables.

Most of time, those cable come with the capacity to power up the HDD.
But still take precaution that some large HDD may need extra electricity power to spin on.

Hope this helps.

Sony released a PlayStation 4 firmware update today. Alongside some tweaks for PSVR and PS4 Pro users comes the long awaited introduction of external hard drive support.
