DVD Drive won't read EA Sports DVDs

My DVD drive will not read Madden 07 (or any other EA Sports DVD I've tried; NHL 09, NBA 08, and Tiger Woods 12). They work on all other computers. All other DVDs work on my computer. When I put the disc in, my computer (its a Sony Vaio laptop about 4 years old, if that helps) makes a weird grinding noise, and it won't recognize that there's a disc in there. At first, it worked just fine. Then I had to keep trying until it recognized the DVD for ~10 mins. Not it won't work it all.
What could be the problem?
