hotkeys

Postby carol » Wed May 19, 2004 11:37 am

:bummed: I have a app. that relies on the use of a hotkey. I can set this up using any combination of ALT/CTRL + one other key. Trouble is, I'm being told that every combination of hotkey configuration is in use! I find this very hard to believe but how do I find out which programs are using what keys for what functions?

Most HOTKEYS are Application specific...meaning that the HotKey is created from within the application and is only Hot while using that specific application.

So my question is :what application are you trying to create the Hotkey for?

It's CorelTrace. I've asked around the Corel user groups but nobody is able to help. It's clearly not something they have come across before. They suggested I searched for hotkey hijacking on the 'net but I couldn't find anything remotely relevant. I also did a 'repair' on the app but the problem remains.

Hi...here's one app and info for it:

Download here: http://www.spinner.nl/files/winmapper/latest/setup.exe

WinMapper:

WinMapper is our RSI-, game- and office-friendly software utility that allow you to program your mouse and keyboard. Use WinMapper to control the default Windows Key and Mouse Keys behaviour, create aliases, create keyboard shortcuts to one of the 100 functions, or use the built-in Bookmarks feature instead of ALT+TAB. WinMapper runs in the system tray, and can be configured to start automatically.

WinMapper enables you to create keyboard shortcuts to a wide variety of functions, while providing enhanced control of windows, MouseKeys, Windows Key hotkeys, and Aliases. WinMapper is the only software to allow this much control over your keyboard and the use of Microsoft Windows, and has several unique features built-in.

For office users, we have implemented a range of features to ease the tasks that are often repeated. This includes the insertion of signatures or predefined text , the recording and repetition of keystrokes, repeated repetitions, automatic numbering, quick access to the most recently used document or application, shortcuts for creating a new emails, bookmarking and switching between open documents, and more. As these features are used with WinMapper hotkeys, they are accessible in all applications.

For game players (v1.04), we have implemented functions that allow precise programming of the keyboard and mouse responses, with programmable delays and support for a timed loop that can be stopped by repeating the hotkey or pressing ESCAPE. Note that even though two different implementations of both the Antz and SendKeys functions are available (Playback or Simulation types), some games and/or applications may not support this, or may discourage or disallow the use of such features.

For music, image, and URL browsing, the DirPlay category provides access to functions that will run any type of file in a specified folder, in the specified order. This, essentially, is a CD player for folders, and works on all file types supported by your Windows system.

WinMapper is distributed as shareware, and you can download a free 30-day trial version. When the initial 30-day trial period has expired, you must register ($19.95) before you can change your settings.

Hope this helps!!
