out of the whole log the "Calibration area full" near the bottom is a red flag. The Calibration area is where the burner can look at the disk to see how bright it should write to the disk, and test it's maximum speed. If it thinks this area is full, it could mean that you have a bad bunch of disks, or that the burner is not putting it's read head over the propper area (in which case I'd say get a new burner)

I've had cheap disks that just would not work in my burner.. i always buy a brand that I recognize now. Technically speaking, the brand name disks could fail too, it's just more unlikely.

Try another type of disk (borrow ONE from a friend) and see what happens.

burner problem

Postby badpolarbear » Wed May 05, 2004 3:23 pm

One thing I learned about cd packaging was a bunch I bought did not seem to work on my burner. The problem was they were packaged upside down in the holder and all had to be flipped over. Once I did that all went well. It seems not all packagers are putting them in the cases the same way. Daniel
