new mobo old adapter

Postby Un_Sub » Thu Feb 09, 2012 6:53 am

Hey guys..long time since I have been here. Having issues with a rebuild I'm doing on my kids desktop, need a little help!

My new mobo is the following:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813121508

my wireless adapter is an airlink101 model awlh-4030-II

My problem is, the mobo is not even showing it is plugged in. It's not on the hardware list at all.

What do you think the problem is and how can I fix it?

It worked fine on the old mobo and it was the same type socket....I think!!!

forgive what may be a silly question but have you tried to install drivers to see if that helps the board pick it up?

how do you install a driver for hardware that the computer says isn't there? I know that you can go to the properties on the hardware and install, update and roll back the driver, but I don't know how to do it if it isn't showing on the hardware. Also, I am having trouble finding a driver for windows 7. All I can find is drivers for xp and 2k. :|

Windows doesnt always have to see the hardware, sometimes it takes the software being there first. Win 7 isnt bad for that but you might be facing a different problem. That card hasnt had a driver released since 08 and would be considered obsolete.

When you changed motherboards, did you also change OS? Was it previously working on windows 7?

yes, OS was changed. Was XP operating system. So, I guess it's time to change the adapter card too, might as well, It's the only thing I haven't upgraded yet.
