Installing SATA drive on AOpen AK79D-400 Max

Postby JROK » Sun Jun 01, 2008 4:52 pm

I just bought on Western Digital Caviar SE WD800AAJS 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive for my PC. I have an AOPen AK79D-400 Max mobo (version 1.08?? does that sound right??) I have it all wired up and have SATA enabled in the BIOS. While booting up I see that it detects the drive, but when I go to install Win XP it says proper hardware can not be found. I've never installed a SATA drive before. What am I doing wrong?

Since I installed the new drive, my PC keeps randomly freezing up. I tried replacing the SATA cable and I still have the same problem. Whats going on??
