DVD/CD Drive failure

Postby icebreaker » Fri Dec 28, 2007 4:27 pm

Hi All,
My drive doesn't open - even though the power light is on :( can you help please.

I have recently upgraded the memory & since then I havn't been able to open the drive, also,Norton Antivirus is due for renewal soon.

Could these be factors & would there be a virus out there that can disable the drive. If so,what is the name of the said virus - so that I can get rid of it,
Many Thanks for any forthcoming advice,
Cheers,

theres no virus that would cause that, its a hardware problem.

You should see a small hole on the front of the drive

You can use a paper clip or something similar to open the drive by inserting it in that hole and pressing in. It usually takes a fair amount of pressure to open it but it should do the trick.
