USB Controller Confusion

Postby Jazzman » Sun Sep 09, 2007 12:07 pm

Hello all!!

I have an MSI KT400A motherboard. It is supposed to have USB 2.0 integrated, but when I plug in a USB device Windows tells me 'HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into non-HI-SPEED USB Hub'. Device Manager tells me 'You Must add a HI-SPEED USB host controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance'.

The manual for the MoBo definitely says it's USB 2.0, and the USB Bracket that came with the MoBo (called 'D Bracket') has a 'Hi-Speed USB' sticker on it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Jazzman,

It sound like you don't have the drivers for 2.0
Go to control panel > system > hardware tab > device manages button
Now select the plus sign next to universal serial bus controllers
Next select USB open host controller then go to the drivers tab and select update driver.

Also MSI has a VIA USB2.0 Patch for your board it can be found

Thank you - Updating the driver did it (it searched and found it somewhere on here). Thanks so much - this is making such a difference to my transfer speeds!

Many thanks
