x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 10 not / only 1 mem mod shown

Postby Quantum » Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:56 pm

I am working on a Genuine Intel x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 10 board and only one 512MB module is being shown in bios. I have two inserted and was wondering if a bios update is needed. Driver Guide sent me back to Intel but I can find the driver through them. Currently Win98 2nd edition is installed but will be updating to XP Home. Thanks in advance.

What type motherboard do you have? That could be the limiting factor on memory. Motherboard could be too old to read the extra ram.

I don't think that a win98 machine can read more than 512 meg from the GUI. On the boot post, did it count to 512 or go to a gig?
