ok from the start i installed linux suse 9.1 on a seperate drive cos i wanted to try it out i didnt like it so i removed it from the drive the problem is when i did that when i try to boot up using my windows drive i get the post screen then it gives me about five lines of : 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 etc or if not that i get the same thing but with the number 99.........ive tried formatting it ive tried using f disk on it and numerous other things but everytime i reboot i get the same thing.

I also tried putting my spare hdd back in with windows installed on it and when i got in windows to my utter dismay i discovered that my 120gb has somehow been erased which im quite pissed off with cos ive lost 44gigs worth of programs mp3s and various other things if anyone can give me any help with this problem at all it'll be greatly appreciated.

Did you remove the Lilo boot manager before you uninstalled Linux?

If not the only way to boot back into your 120 gig Windows is to
Boot to MS-DOS from a boot disk, and then type the following:
fdisk /mbr

This will remove Lilo from the master boot record and reassign your w2k as the OS.

check to see if your bios settings for the drives is correct--you usually can't read existing data of a drive if the parameters are wrong, but you can format and install on one that is set wrong. (Remember back to the old hard drives with only 45 bios settings)
