USB issues with Asus A7n8x-x

Postby Affliction » Sat Jul 10, 2004 1:34 pm

Hi all, I've been having alot of problems with my new ASUS motherboard. The problem being that none of my 6 USB ports work. I followed the instructions given in the cd to the best of my ability but to no avail. I installed the QFE fix and the EHCI drivers from the cd and still nothing. I am really stumped on this one. I've formatted twice and still nothing.

the problem is that none of my devices work when plugged to the usb ports. i have a mouse and camera, and neither of them work.
When I plug my mouse in i get a pop up bubble that says 'this device has malfunctioned' and in device manager it says wondows cannot recognise the device.

when i plug my camera in, I cant get to 'my computer' until i unplug it. I've done alot of searching and cant find anyone with exactly the same problem as me.

fyi im running an asus a7n8x-x
windows xp
400wpsu
512ram

if any pics(screenshots) or info are need ill be happy to supply them

When you go into Device Manager are all your USB "Root Hubs" "Controllers" Enabled?
Are there any Conflicts or Question Marks visable?

Did they ever work?
You say you have 6 USB ports, how many are intergrated and how many are adapter cards?

I have got that board is it the one with 4 intergrated ones and 2 on the card? .You should try just reinstalling the drivers again and do windows update incase theres a fix for the USB ports but i had no problems with mine at all. Or maybe try take out that card that you use to connect the other two usb ports, then try test it just with the ones on the board and see if they work. But the drivers that come with the install CD should work fine try uninstalling them and reinstalling them maybe.

Did you see if the pins were connected correctly on the motherboard from the USB connector? Could be a hardware issue instead of a driver.
