Can't Install Media Player 10

Trying to install Version 10. Have 11 now and can't stand it.
When I go to control panel and chose "Remove Windows Components", I get:
Error Messase:"Setup was not able to open information file Mssligt.inf" .
Contact Your system administrator.
The specific error code is 0X2 at Line 0"
There must be a way to remove this program so I can get back to Version 10

I think that instead of going into 'add/remove windows components' you need to scroll to the bottom of the list under 'change or remove programs' and uninstall MWP 11 from there. I think that takes it back to 10.
I'd like to suggest alternative programs to you too.
I use winamp to play my audio, and VLC player for my video.
Both do a superior job to WMP, and are free.

Everyone suggests I use other programs, but despite running an online business for 19 years and being able to maneuver My way arround pretty well, I just don't have the patience for New programs.
Version 11 doesn't show up on the list You referenced.
Maybe I do indeed have to reinstall it?

That's the beauty of VLC. it just works.
and winamp's worth learning, imo... not that there's much to learn, practically WMP but good.
Why put up with WMP giving you grief for years to come, when you can spend less than a day learning something new and superior!?
Even so, it's strange that WMP 11 isnt on your normal programs list. Or that there's no WMP on that list at all...
