I have a hewlett packard computer with Windows XP. I just got a new phone line and tried my AOL dial-up connection. AOL tells me that I am connected when I try to dial up and I am able to access my e-mail.
However, when I try to go to any other websites, I only get the: Page cannot be displayed message. It will not load any other pages regardless of whether I am using AOL or Internet Explorer. I have tried 3 different dial-up providers with the same results.
Is there something wrong with the connection? or the computer? It is very strange that I can access my e-mail but nothing else.

Well, I tried to enter in the IP address for some websites and that didn't work. Then I renamed the hosts anyways and that didn't help either.

I just can't figure out if this is a problem with the phone connection or with the computer. The phone works and the dial-up connection works, is it possible that it just won't let me browse the internet?
