USB Ports stop working

Postby ansmwke » Wed May 14, 2008 2:45 am

I am running Vista, and when i reboot my computer, the USB ports work fine. After a while when i plug anything in it detects the port as unused. When i reboot the computer they work again... for a while atleast.

Ive tried usb dvdrom, usb flash drive, iphone and some other usb hard ware, and none would work

Is there a setting to restart a usb controller?

Hi Ansmwke

If it's a laptop, I've seen a similar situation. Unplug the power cord to the laptop over night and it will be ok.

Sounds like witchcraft but it works. I have noticed that problem on new Toshiba laptops. There is nothing wrong with them, but keeping them plugged into a power outlet all of the time does some strange things.

Hope this helps.
