Sound icon missing from the System tray when restarting XP

Postby EGuest3 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 5:08 pm

Hello,

I am currently working on a Windows XP PC and whenever we restart the PC the sound Icon does not show in the System tray, We have enabled the Icon to show in the system tray and still after restarting the pc it will not show up.

I have tried the following but it has not worked

Go into your Control Panel and open Folder Options, under the View tab uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)", click Apply/OK. Now go into Windows Explorer(Not Internet Explorer) and go to C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder and open it. Locate the sndvol32.exe file right click it,choose copy. Next go to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and open it. In the right pane right click an empty area and choose Paste.

Does anyone have any ideas. :D
