Hi,

my computer has recently started having problems!

it doesnt load to the windows xp logon screen correctly every time.

basically it starts the computer, show the "windows xp professional is loading screen" then just flashes one of those rare windows xp blue error screens and restarts, then says that windows didnt start properly, please select safe mode, last good config etc,
it flashes the error and resarts just when the pc would normally show my mouse "hourglass" loading and display the user logon screen
i cant pause it in time to read the error.

its not the blaster virus as far as i know because the pc has been scanned and patched etc and it doesnt show all the symptons.
its running mcafee virusscan and firewall, ad-aware, spybot search and destroy and "no adware" because im being overrun by adware and stuff!!

i think its a registry/boot problem, the registry check is showing errors but i really cannot wipe this pc because of tax returns etc

any ideas guys!

p.s i have done a boot logged startup if anyones interested, loads of stuff "didnt load"

Ok,

I did a full re-format of both my hard drives with the NTFS file system.

did a clean install of windows xp pro on my main HDD and now the problem has still returned.

I have scanned the pc problems and viruses with all the latest, updated virus scanners etc, and the problem still occurs, except its a different error message.

what do you reckon guys? what does the message mean?

it definately cant be a virus now,

is it hardware related, seeing as windows xp has just been installed properly!

please help asap!!

checked those out, and ill get back to you on that.

could it be an intermittent memory fault?

the pc seems to start up ok without my usb keyboard and mouse, whether thats related im not sure!

they worked ok before!

Have you installed service pack 1, and the drivers for your mouse & keyboard?
