I am getting the following error when I close iexplore

Application popup: iexplore.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x66869bd7" referenced memory at "0x00000050". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

What should I do?

Hello vhanna, and welcom to our forums.

The first thing I would try is clearing out you cookies.

I have seen a number of posts about these types of errors when using IE7.
Clearing the cookies resolves over half of them.

From within IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies button
