.LNK files

Postby petalyn47 » Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:04 am

Hi -

Could you tell me whether it is safe to delete .lnk files which have been listed in the analysis when I run CC Cleaner?

There are a heap of them, all relating to files which are C:\Docs and Settings\user application\MS\Office\Recent\filename.lnk

I think they are temp/shortcuts, however thought I'd just make sure before deleting them.

Thanks

They are shortcuts.

If the programs they are pointing to are no longer installed then it is safe to delete them. If they are still installed and you have shortcuts that you have placed in specific places then I would just leave it alone. I don't think CCleaner would erase active shortcuts, though. If you're not sure, just leave them be. They don't take up a fraction of your space anyway.

Thanks v much. They appear to all point to actual files rather than programs, but I guess I'll leave them for now.
