hi all,
I made a bad thing, (i think). Well, i turned on Guest and put a password to my admin side on xp. I went to folder option and turn off folder sharing and right click on my 4 drives ( partition to four drives, D,E, F, and G). I click on the security tab, and there was a prompt saying that do i want to reset the security level since all the drives are not at the same security ( or something like that), i click ok, and now i have no admin rights to those drives anymore. I can grant myself access to it, but do not have the full legal admin rights to changes the permission and can't moves files in the drives.
any idea or help?
If i was to reinstall windows , will i have full access to these drives again?

What I am figuring, is that you log on as someone else other than administrator.
If thats the case, log on as administrator,
Right click on My Comuter-->select Manage
In System Tools select Local Users and Group --Users
Right click on your user login name and go to properties
Click on Member of
Click on Add at the bottom
Type in the word Administrators
On the right click check name--it will underline if its spelled right
and then click ok and back out
While you are there disable the Guest account and/or password it.

i logged in as admin while doing this. If i don't get have the admin rights anymore, can i just format my C drive and reinstall Windows again? Can i then, have access to my other drives again?

As Administrator, you should be able to rt click on one of the other drives and in security add a group like Everyone or a user like Administrators. Then down below check the rights you want to issue.
The login name Admin is not the same as Administrator Plus on the architecture; you have one drive with many partitions? Are any of the drives, folders or files on these drives password protected cloaked (hidden) or encripted?

I logged in as the administrator while doing this. Now i've reformated my C drive and reinstalled Windows. I still have the same problem. I don't have the Administrator rights to the drives/folders. I can claim ownership to the drives and folders but, I'm not legally the owner anymore. How can i become the legal Administator to it again? Will switching to a new hdd help me with this problem? Or will formatting the dirves help me?

Are the drives you are refering to, partitions on the c drive or actual hard drives? If they are actual hard drives, then there could be a password conflict, that may be difficult to resolve. If everything is on one drive, you may have a boot sector virus that is messing things up, or a flag got set somewhere, that is messing things up.
What you are describing sounds like two hard drives from two different installs that are interacting,
What is the geometry of your system, how many real drives?

I have two real Hdd. They are partitioned to be exactly alike in file sizes. If the primary hdd have 4 partition, then the slave hdd will have 4 hdd with the same size.

Try this:
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, click Tools|Folder Options, click the View tab, and clear the checkbox for Use Simple File Sharing.
I know this switch will change the way security permissions are handled.
Then rt click the drive select security, select advanced and make sure that the top box inherit from parent is checked. see if that solves the problem.
There could be another issue:
I don't do much with Raid 1 (mirrored drives) but if that is what you have set up, it seems to me that you would not have permissions to the mirrored drive--it would defeat the purpose of the Mirror
Anyone else have an idea on this?
