When i right click on my desktop and the menu comes up i click on properties. The Hourglass comes up for a split second then goes away and the properties window never comes up.
Im using XP

Could be a spyware problem. Download the link at the top left hand corner: Spybot, install, update and run.
See if you can update your virus scan. Then run it.
