Private folder?

Postby bsxiong » Mon Feb 07, 2005 11:29 pm

Hi, i wanted to know if it is possible for you to set some folders to private as being the site admistrator? I have 3 HDDdrives. Local C,D,&E. I know that "guest" can't open your document folder, but guest can access your other 2 HDD drives. Is there a possible way to set private or password to those drives also? Or do i need a special program or software to put password?

thanks

I am not sure about XP Home edition, but XP Pro it should work like Windows 2000.

Everyone would have to have a logon name and password. Then as administrator, you could right click on the drive or folder, select security and set up the shares.

Most people set up XP skipping the logon screen and in that case, I don't think the options are offered by the system. (I could be wrong :D )

I found an article on it. I have set it up before, but it was a while ago

Go to this link and follow the thread on "Disable simple file sharing."

That has to be done first.

Good luck
